Milky Way Speckle Parks
Milky Way Speckle Park Stud is now based in the lush, rolling hills of Korumburra, South Gippsland, Victoria. Our breeding enterprise is building on the key attributes of the Speckle Park breed foundation having been established in Australia in 2007. Our core herd was selected from a broad breeding base of Canadian Speckle Park genetics sourced as embryos from leaders in the industry. We started with 7 heifers and 4 bulls born in March 2012. We took possession of our future breeders as 7 month old ET calves and during Spring 2014 our first generation of calves arrived. Our foundation herd was first serviced by two ET bulls - Milky Way Astro Boy, a white Speckle Park bull & the son of River Hill Traffic Jam 26T and Milky Way Eclipse, a black Speckle Park bull & the son of Codiak Crikey 13U.
In 2017, we introduced new genetics into our herd via AI & ET programs, using elite Canadian and Australian bull genetics. We flushed a few of our best females during the 2018 summer, embryos of which we are using in our own recipient cow program. Following a property move to larger acreage has enabled us to the addition of more recipient cows into our stud operation to increase in our breeding program. We strive to produce consistent, easy doing, productive cattle with structural correctness and high growth performance, who are particularly suited to grass feed operations. We currently sell a small number of registered stud animals both privately and via stud auction each year.
